Cheaper than a taxi, but is it safe.. UBER a new app that maps out the closest Uber driver to you for a ride. But how do we know these drivers are who they claim to be?
A mandatory background check and a new or slightly new vehicle is required to be a qualified Uber driver. So for this story that just hit the news regarding a woman who may have been assaulted by a man who claimed to be "off-duty" Uber driver, is it true?
In Mar Vista, on a Saturday night, a woman claimed to be assaulted by this "off-duty" driver. Let's start off with how did he know she was waiting for Uber when he shouldn't of had access to anything related to work if he was off and his last drive as an driver was Friday and this incident occurred Saturday night.
Personally being a college student and having nights out with no one being able to drive sometimes Uber becomes our only "safe" choice to get back home. It is important for college students who constantly use this type of transportation to be safe, especially if girls who are intoxicated or under the influence trust Uber.
There should be more requirements for Uber drivers or any type of transportation services for that matter, because this is not the first story that has been reported about Uber.
